Dead certs

Sunderland have agreed a £5 million fee with Cardiff City for Michael Chopra. The former England Under-21 striker scored 22 goals in the Coca-Cola Championship last season. He turned down a 12-month contract at Newcastle United to move to Ninian Park for £500,000 last year.

Lyn Oslo have bought Emil Hallfredsson from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee. The midfield player, who joined two years ago from FH Hafnarfj?rdur, made six appearances for the reserve team last season.

Rangers have signed Lee McCulloch, the Wigan Athletic midfield player, for £2.25 million on a four-year contract.
