Snaking like reams of coloured silk through an endless Arctic sky, the Northern Lights cast a fairy-tale glow over Finland’s snowy landscape. With its glittering lakes, pine forests and fells, not to mention the Aurora Borealis overhead, Finnish Lapland delivers a unique experience. This month, we’ve teamed up with The Aurora Zone (theaurorazone.com) — Northern Lights holiday experts — to give you the chance to win a four-night Aurora holiday, staying at The Wilderness Hotel in Nellim, in beautiful Northern Finland.
The Wilderness Hotel is a traditional and intimate family-run hotel, where the food is home- cooked, wholesome and locally sourced from the nearby lakes and forests. While three of your nights will be spent in one of the cosy, wood-panelled rooms, one will be spent in an Aurora Bubble, a glass-domed room with a panoramic view of the night sky.
Being in such a remote spot, the levels of light pollution in Nellim are very low, meaning that if the skies are clear and the solar conditions are favourable, you’ll be in the front row for any Northern Lights display.
You’ll also get the chance to visit a local Sámi reindeer farm on a snowmobile-pulled sled and you’ll experience a husky safari.
