Wiggin’s strengths include media, technology and intellectual property. This year it has advised the streaming platform HBO Max on UK and European commissioning and production issues, as well as assisting the other WarnerMedia divisions Warner Bros, HBO and Warner Bros TV on matters relating to their UK and European film and television productions, including cast, crew and location arrangements.

The firm, which has bases in London, Cheltenham and Brussels, defended the author Catherine Belton and publisher Harper Collins in libel claims brought against them after publication of the book Putin’s People. The claims were brought by a group of Russian oligarchs, including the Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich and the Russian state-owned oil company Rosneft.

In addition, Wiggin represented Warner Music and Sony Music Entertainment in a complex copyright infringement test case against the US audio streaming service TuneIn. In March this year the Court of Appeal found in favour of the firm’s clients and dismissed TuneIn’s appeal.
