What makes a good travel writer?

Leading travel authors, editors and the Daunt Books co-founder, share their tips on the art of great travel writing

The gathering of some of the most established and emerging names in travel writing, at one of the country’s leading travel book shops, seemed the ideal place to get the best advice on travel writing.

This week the shortlisted authors in the 2010 Dolman Travel Book of the Year met at Daunt Books in Marylebone to make their final pitches to the judges.

We took a camera along to find out, from the experts, what makes good travel writing. Watch our video above to hear their thoughts.

You can also replay our live Q&A with the authors and judges, listed below... they discussed the art of travel writing, how to get started, which travel books inspired them and how they made it onto the Dolman Travel Book of the Year shortlist and onto the judging panel.
