The national law firm Weightmans traces its story back to 1875 with the founding of Field and Weightman. Clients include large corporate institutions, health organisations, insurance companies, public sector bodies, owner-managed businesses and private individuals.

Recent work has included advising Daire Browne, a senior executive for Bank of America, in the international estate of his late aunt, the prolific crossword creator Nuala Considine.

Lawyers at Weightmans were also instructed by the artist and illustrator Ralph Steadman, best known for his collaboration with Hunter S Thompson on Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, in a continuing case regarding copyright infringement of his artwork.

The firm continued to represent one of the principal organisations throughout the infected blood public inquiry and was reappointed to all legal panels after a review by NHS Resolution (formerly NHS Litigation Authority), including clinical claims for NHS trusts and primary practice.
