Sir, The time is right for Gordon Brown to put the Met Office in charge of the economy (“OK, it rained, says Met Office. But it was warm rain”, Sept 1). Overnight, unemployment figures would be halved and in the time it takes for the pavements to dry, after another warm but statistically insignificant deluge, our national debt would have disappeared.
