SCOTTISH NEWS AND SPORT

Gary Warren, the Inverness Caledonian Thistle captain, knows what it takes to build a Scottish Cup-winning team, having been part of the fabric under John Hughes. The club’s current squad, he admits, remains a good distance short of the ‘special’ blend of 2015 but he is sufficiently encouraged enough by reconstruction work under John Robertson to believe they can upset Dundee tonight.

Despite a budget cut by some £2 million following relegation, though, Robertson has pulled together a squad now pushing for a promotion play-off place. “It is hard to replicate the kind of spirit we had before, because it was so special,” Warren said. “It was not only the players, but the whole environment and people all around the club. It was such a united feeling.”

Robertson has the influential midfield pair Liam Polworth and Iain Vigurs available again following suspension. A pitch inspection will be held at midday today.
