I'm looking for a faux-fur jacket, but all the ones I see on the high street seem to be poor quality. Can you tell me where I can find one that feels luxurious?

It is possible for faux fur to feel like a quality item. Stella McCartney regularly sends her models out in jackets that don't scrimp on feel appeal (£4,765). There are two safe bets: either opt for a short, velvety fur, like Topshop's jacket (£95), or take a leaf from McCartney's book and go for something with texture. H&M has a jacket (£70) that gives the Krystle Carrington look without the price tag.

I want a pair of straight black leather trousers, but all the ones I've seen are either too low-waisted or too skinny. I'm 45, a size 10 and want to avoid looking tarty. What do you suggest?

When trying to keep leather trousers the right side of classy, it is vital to opt for something with shape. A pair by Whistles (£250) are great. The high waist, a grown-up take on the trend, is flattering, and the slim, slightly cropped style means they look tailored and not at all cheap. Alternatively, Topshop has done a similar pair with suede inserts for £100.

I need an outfit. I'm 21 this Christmas and having a party. I'm a size 12 and desperately looking for a minidress with long sleeves. Can you recommend something that is on trend but not too fussy?

One of this season's biggest looks is embellishment. This sparkly number from French Connection (£160, above) ticks the box. Wear with black opaques. To work the bejewelled trend without looking like a Christmas tree, go for a dress from Asos (£32). The simple black lines keep it looking chic, while the sparkles let it party.
