It is not necessary to refer to a female war correspondent’s children, or to make judgments based on gender

Sir, Is it possible for a female war correspondent to be profiled, or her book reviewed (Book review, Mar 19), without accusations that she has “repeatedly abandoned” her children? Such judgmental observations rarely appear in reference to men whose work regularly takes them away from home and family.
