Virgin Trains offers air passengers free tickets

Business travellers who fly between Manchester and London in February or March can swap their used boarding pass to get a free first class rail ticket from Virgin Trains.

Virgin Trains claims that almost six out of every ten people – nearly a quarter of a million people - travelling between London and Manchester now take the train.

Charles Belcher, Virgin West Coast’s managing director, says: “Millions more passengers are now using our trains compared to a year ago. However, we realise that there are still many people who have not yet enjoyed the faster, more punctual and more frequent service that we introduced in September 2004. This offer underlines our confidence that, once customers try us, they will stay with us.”

Free rail travel is not restricted to journeys between London and Manchester. The tickets are also eligible for journeys to Stockport, Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Liverpool, Preston, Crewe, Chester, Runcorn, Wigan and Warrington. Only boarding passes for air travel on weekdays are eligible for the promotion.
