Violent ‘Big Brother’

Sir, With Big Brother (report, some editions, June 18) Channel 4 appears to have engineered a situation whereby a group of young people are deliberately put into a situation where drunken violence is a probability.

Whilst the occupants of the house are responsible for their own actions, the programme-makers have given us a volatile mix of individuals. By allowing two members to spy on the others before returning them unexpectedly to the house, an inflammatory situation was created, presumably in the interest of boosting ratings.

Whilst everyone else is condemning drunken violence by Englishmen in Portugal, Channel 4 facilitates it at home.

Yours faithfully,

KEITH StJ. BERRETT,

9 Reynolds Mews,

Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 2NR.

June 18.
