Sir, I am sad that Marcus Binney finds some listed postwar Cambridge University buildings lame (The Register, July 31). Perhaps he misses the attractiveness that the quality of “utility” can offer; free from mannerisms and other excesses.
One hopes that if any generous budgets were indeed on offer, they went towards meeting appropriate needs and not in conjuring up a spurious excitement.
