When David Davis stabbed a man with a pair of scissors it didn’t take long for police to track him down.

The 21-year-old had been halfway through a radical haircut, having his extensive braids untangled, when trouble flared and he fled with the job half done.

Officers in Stamford, Connecticut, found him nearby and refused to allow him to visit a barber for the job to be completed before his police mugshot was taken.

Sergeant Cory Caserta, of Stamford police, says that Davis faces an assault charge.

Police papers describe how the victim approached Davis during his haircut in what he called “an aggressive manner”.

Davis told officers that he picked up the scissors in self-defence.

The 21-year-old victim was taken to Stamford Hospital to receive treatment for a wound in his back. Police said he had been saved from worse harm by his thick coat.
