Two men have been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred in connection with two videos posted online.

Merseyside police said yesterday that they had arrested a 39-year-old man from Mossley Hill after a clip of a man brandishing a machete while threatening to blow up mosques and kill Muslims was shared on social media.

In the rant, the man looks at the camera while holding what appears to be a grenade, as he claims that he wants to behead followers of Islam.

Referencing the suicide bombing that killed 22 people at Ariana Grande’s Manchester concert on May 22, the man says: “If you want to see terrorism, come and see me, you cowards.”

He then withdraws a huge blade from its sheath, adding: “Let me tell you, I will get people to run in your mosques with pineapples [grenades] and blow your mosques off this f***ing planet.” The clip was shared by thousands of people on Facebook and Twitter.

The force added last night that, in another incident, a 39-year-old man from Kirkby was arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred in relation to a separate video.

This one showed a man in an Everton shirt making comments about recent terrorist attacks.

The Metropolitan Police said that the force had not noted any increase in attacks on Muslims following the London murders.
