Founded in 1810, Travers Smith specialises in corporate and commercial law, advising on asset management, intellectual property and technology, mergers and acquisitions, pensions, tax, and employment disputes.

Recent activity includes advising Numis, a corporate broking and advisory house, on its £410 million recommended offer by Deutsche Bank, the largest bank in Germany. Deutsche Bank agreed the all-cash offer for the acquisition of Numis in April.

It also advised on the largest pension scheme to reach full insurance. The client was the trustee of the British Steel pension scheme and the advice was in connection with a series of insurance transactions that have resulted in all scheme liabilities being insured with Legal & General, taking total buy-ins to £7.5 billion and securing the benefits of all 67,000 retired and deferred members.
