Tilly and the Wall

Wild Like Children

(Moshi Moshi)

When a band member’s contribution is listed as “tap dancing”, must the word “novelty” follow? Not in the case of this three-girl, two-boy Omaha bunch, who may offer untrained harmonies and tales of teen angst, but they are real songwriters, too. Their debut is effervescent and varied, drawing on both the harmony-drenched naivety of 1960s folk-pop and indie rock’s energy. Jamie W’s tap takes its place among shakers, tambourines and bells, but the lyrics confirm that Tilly’s mob aren’t just playing for fun.
