Sir, The imposition of booking or transaction fees now being levied by the organisers of many types of event is totally unjustified. The price of a ticket to an event should surely be the price, not the price plus a fee. Costs such as credit card company and bank fees and staff should be included in the ticket price.
I never minded paying a postage fee of, say, 30p, but now this is usually 50p or even £1, which is a lot if the organiser takes advantage of postal discounts. Our national event centre in Wales charges a fee even when you book in person and you can avoid it only if you pay cash.
Now that so many of these events are bookable online, making booking costs even lower for the organisers, it is time for booking fees to be eliminated.
