Think you can beat our racers?

Here’s your chance to race a supercharged Jaguar round Silverstone in our Hot Laps competition. Win, and you could be driving an XKR for six months

Ever fancied yourself as a racing driver? Want to be the star of your own Top Gear-style video? Or would you simply like to test your nerve in a blast around a racetrack in a Jaguar XKR? If you've answered yes to any of the above you'll want to enter the Sunday Times Hot Laps competition.

The premise is simple: each week we invite InGear readers to go to our website and answer a simple question. The editor picks several winners at regular intervals and they are invited to Silverstone to complete a timed lap in a racetuned XKR. The laps are filmed and posted online so others can see how well they did. For inspiration check out our two tame Stigs doing their worst in the video.

The competition is now open and will close on July 31. It is being run in conjunction with Jaguar Cars and Silverstone. To enter, click on the link below, read through the terms and conditions and follow the instructions on how to register. At least 10 entrants will be selected over the next month to set a timed lap. You must be 25 or over with a full driving licence, which you have held for at least a year. Some height and weight restrictions may apply. Make sure you get your entry in before our next draw on Friday. In the interests of fair play we can’t accept entries from people who own a Motor Sports Association (MSA) racing licence.

Winning entrants drive at their own risk. The readers with the best times will be invited back for the Hot Laps final. Jaguar will offer the winner the chance to drive an XKR for six months – as long as they have held a driving licence for three years. This element is to be arranged with Jaguar Cars directly and is subject to the winner meeting insurance criteria. Driving licence restrictions apply and you may have to keep the car in a garage.
