The Ugly Duckling and Me

The Hans Christian Anderson story of the Ugly Duckling is hijacked and roughed up a bit, then re-emerges, just about recognisable, as this strident animation. Ratso, a morally bankrupt impresario rodent, is up to his furry neck in trouble. But when he stumbles upon Ugly, the ugliest duckling in the world, Ratso sniffs an opportunity. Posing as Ugly’s father, Ratso sets off on a perilous journey to get to the carnival where he believes he can cash in on Ugly’s unique looks. While amusing enough for younger kids, there’s not really enough for older members of the family.
