THE TRACK

The latest release from the Regal label singles club sees a dream combo, well for a certain audience – Paul Weller collaborating with Graham Coxon. Unsurprisingly, This Old Town is a rattling slice of guitar pop topped by the duo bidding to out-Estuary each other as they sing “tahhhn”. www.7digital.com

THE VIDEO

For the Hours’ Ali in the Jungle, the director Jonas Odell (Goldfrapp and Franz Ferdinand) steers clear of the obvious ’74 footage, instead conjuring up a kaleidoscopic fantasy. Think Heath Robinson meets the Summer of Love. www.thehours.com

THE NEWBAND

Zan Pan live are terrifying – buttock-hugging tight pants, bad hair and Brian May monster riffs. On record, they are great – Swati is a lovely ballad that could conceivably have been written by someone who hadn’t seen This is Spinal Tap. And you have to love a band who sing “pow!” so sincerely. www.myspace.com/ zanpanband

THE CLIP

Live Earth unintentionally achieved its energy-saving aim by being so dull most people at home switched off. It did have one great moment, though – Madonna ( below) jigging with the gypsy-punk pirates Gogol Bordello. www.youtube.com
