The Resident

This thriller manages a few uncomfortable scenes - until it descends into a predictable nailgun-massacre finale

When it comes to renting flats, you get what you pay for. In the case of the ER nurse Julia, played by Hilary Swank, a spacious apartment in a beautiful old building with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge is a steal — the only caveat being a landlord with a penchant for peeping (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

Jokinen’s thriller would like to be Roman Polanski’s The Tenant, and manages a few uncomfortable scenes, but this is more along the lines of Single White Female, adequate enough until it descends into a predictable nailgun-massacre finale.

Antti Jokinen, 15 (90min)
