The Resident

Hilary Swank moves into a bargain apartment after breaking up with her boyfriend. Watch out, Christopher Lee’s about

The Resident is a voyeuristic little horror film starring Hilary Swank as Juliette, an emergency-room surgeon who breaks up with her boyfriend and moves into a new apartment in New York. The landlord is the charming Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and the period flat is an absolute bargain with river views, polished wood floors ... and Christopher Lee lurking in the background. Cue shadowy presences, eyes at peepholes, and camera views from under the bed, always a bad sign.

Juliette becomes keen on her landlord, and forgets the old adage that single girls should change the locks. The camera is all over Swank like a rash, creeping about nastily at bath time. Swank does her best with a thin script, barely saved by a shoot-out with a nail gun.
