The Infadels

We Are Not the Infadels

(Wall of Sound)

Like Cut Copy and Soulwax, the Infadels see no problem with making dance music that rocks and vice versa. The London five-piece are a cult live act (and winners of the Diesel New Music Best Live Act award), and their debut album is an enjoyably energetic rock’n’rave romp.

Fronted by the gobby Bnann, they match Hard-Fi for urgent delivery, but instead of dead-end town chippiness, the Infadels reference Devo and Magritte (the album title) and take a poke at things such as reality TV (Reality TV) and Hoxton clubbers (Jagger ‘67). The odd track veers into bland big-beat territory, but the opener, Love Like Semtex, is a corker.
