It’s taken five years for the Hives to get their fifth album together, but despite the lengthy gestation it is business as usual for the Swedish rockers, give or take the odd tempo change. This means more turbo-charged rock’n’roll in thrall to the Stooges (they even spent time trying to replicate Iggy and Co’s drum sound), as typified by opener Come On!, which clocks in at just over a minute and consists of consummate frontman Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist shouting the title over a pummelling drum beat and spiky riffing. Go Right Ahead is a glam stomp with sleazy brass, but anyone expecting evolution will be disappointed.
