Brand watch: Grenfell
Founded in 1923 by the Haythornthwaite family in Lancashire, Grenfell began as a “wonder fabric” developed to meet the outerwear needs of explorer and missionary doctor Sir Wilfred Grenfell. Coats were manufactured in “Grenfell cloth” and Grenfell clothing was worn by royalty, sportsmen and actors, including Cary Grant. The new collection includes classic styles such as Crombies and Harringtons, as well as the Hampstead, an updated version of the double-breasted overcoat, £600 (grenfelluk.com).
