Sir, In response to Matthew Syed’s article (times2, Feb 5), one of the reasons women and girls of all ages (and I include myself) get excited and go weak-kneed at the sight of the likes of Lawrence Dallaglio, Phil Vickery and many other rugby players is that they act and play like men, unlike those grossly overpaid wimps in soccer, who behave like drama queens when they get the odd rap on the shin. Nor do rugby players jump on each other’s backs, kiss each other, rush around the pitch sliding towards the crowd, baring their torsos.
So, if Matthew Syed can’t bear the thought of watching the boys at Twickenham, I would be glad to relieve him of his ticket.
