Sir, The Rev Alan Robson sweepingly criticises university Christian unions (letter, Nov 25). The doctrinal basis, to which all committee members have to assent, is entirely orthodox.
The lives of Christian union students played a leading role in my coming to a living faith in 1952. I have been involved with the Christian Union at Manchester University since 1963 and it has been a privilege to know its members.
The Christian unions contribute significantly to the student bodies of which they are members and their banning brings no credit to those universities whose student unions have done so.
