TUESDAY: The Gowan Group, the distribution company, made a pretax profit of €46m in 2005, almost treble the €17.9m recorded in 2004. Most of the increase resulted from property disposals, which contributed just over €21m.

WEDNESDAY: Cisco Systems, the American telecommunications equipment maker, announced the creation of a €30m research and development facility in Galway, where it expects to employ 200 people within three years.

THURSDAY: United Drug, the healthcare services group, increased pre-tax profits by 14% to €52.2m for the year to September 30, 2005. Turnover rose 10% to €1.46 billion.
