TUESDAY: Irish exports grew just 3% last year, said the Irish Exporters Association. Manufacturing exports rose 2.5% with service exports up 4%. The association hopes for export growth of 7% in 2006.

Broadband and voice service firm Digiweb announced an €8.5m investment in its Metro wireless service. This will fund 20 new locations for Metro in addition to the existing six and make the service available to 60% of Irish people this year.

WEDNESDAY: Airtricity said it would build four new wind farms in Cavan, Limerick and Wexford, having raised €130m towards domestic and international expansion.

Vacancies in the IT sector jumped 14% in seven months, rising to 9,200 since May, according to a new survey from Dublin City University.

THURSDAY: Two medical devices firms are to create 145 new jobs in the west of Ireland. UCSI, a Japanese company, is to hire 125 in Ballinasloe while Advanced Medical Optics, an American firm, is boosting its Westport workforce by 20 to 60 people.

FRIDAY: Grafton’s turnover will top €2.6 billion for 2005, said the building materials group. It spent €470m on 17 acquisitions in Ireland and Britain last year.
