The Mayfly, Stockbridge, Hampshire

This is where my dad and I would go for a pint after a day’s fly-fishing on the Test. It has a stunning garden with the river almost running right through it.

Five Bells, Brabourne, Kent

Russell Norman
I can’t wait to sit in the large garden of this pub, which also has a covered terrace. It was was sympathetically restored by Mark Sargeant and Josh De Haan’s a few years ago and has been lovingly embellished with lots of attention to detail and care. The menu is a combination of hearty, comforting pub classics and precise, Mediterranean impostors but it all works very well in a friendly and cheerfully chaotic manner.

A cracking pub just down the road from me in Marlow. They have a massive terrace and big garden, and the food is always excellent.

The Mariners, Rock, Cornwall

I visited soon after the pub reopened a few years ago and still remember the Ploughman’s to this day! A proper pub with local beers and views of the Camel Estuary —just heaven.

The Edwardstone White House and Little Earth Project, Sudbury, Suffolk

Olia Hercules
This ia a lovely pub in Suffolk. The beer is great — they have an onsite brewery called the Little Earth Project that brews fantastic, interesting beers, including barrel-aged sour beers. They also have cask taps of craft beer from independent breweries around the UK. They have accommodation now too. I can’t wait to visit.

A proper Cotswolds pub; it’s lovely to sit in the cottage-style garden and the food is wonderful too.

The Crate Brewery, Hackney Wick, London E9

Tomos Parry
The canalside pub has a great location, near the Olympic Park. You can have a beautiful walk down the canal with the family and then have some of their beers that are brewed on site and pizzas from their wood-fired ovens.

With panoramic views over the Essex countryside, this location of this pub is stunning and I love the feeling you get when you’re chatting with locals — it feels very much like Spanish bars. And, of course, I love my pub, the Swan Inn in Esher.

The Manor, Brixham, Devon

Mitch Tonks
I can’t wait to get in a pub garden and visit the Manor in Brixham. It’s a small pub in a backstreet near the harbour. Drinkers spill out across the road and sit under a wood and sail structure crafted by the landlord, Jack, who is an offshore sailor. It’s a super atmosphere. The beers are great, it’s the town’s local and it will be so good to see everyone again.

This pub is about 20 minutes from Padstow. They have the most amazing beer garden in the middle of the village with woods-fired cooking outside — it’s heaven!

This fantastic pub came to me by a recommendation from one of our regular guests at Jikoni — the best places are always recommended — and I love it because the food and service are outstanding. It is family-run and the food, which has a Bib Gourmand, is exceptionally sourced and cooked.

The Compasses Inn, Salisbury, Wiltshire

Oliver Milburn
Just a lovely country pub in glorious countryside run by Ben Maschler, who keeps fine beer and dispenses delicious food without any pretensions to grandeur, which is how pubs should be. There is a spectacular new terrace and the lawn is a proper suntrap.

The Freemasons Arms, Hampstead, London NW3

Bettina Campolucci Bordi
I love this Hampstead favourite for a pub lunch or a drink after a long walk. It’s minutes from the heath and has a gorgeous garden. They also have a good kids’ menu, which my daughter enjoys, and do a wicked chocolate brownie.

The Fox & Hounds, Hunsdon, Hertfordshire

Theo Randall
The food and beer are very good — James Rix and his team do a fantastic job and they use great produce. We are very much looking forward to going there for Sunday lunch, which is our favourite time to visit as it is far enough outside London to feel you are in the countryside, and the surrounding area is a beautiful place to walk after a big lunch. The outside terrace is also heated, so it’s a great place to go if the weather is a bit nippy.

The Carpenter’s Arms, Hammersmith, London W6

Allegra McEvedy
This is a wonderful, idiosyncratic local pub with a Francophile vibe, and when you sit in its gorgeous garden you feel as if you are on holiday. It’s full of beautiful plants and vintage, beat-up metal furniture that you might find in a French bistro in the middle of the country.
In the evening they light it with twinkly lights, so any occasion there automatically feels very special. The food is always delicious, with a small menu from a former River Café chef, and they serve local ales.

This is my local and it has a massive die-hard fan club. It’s on a very sunny corner, is family-owned, uses local suppliers and all the food is homemade. On top of that it has the friendliest staff. I can’t wait to go in for a pint.

The Royal Oak, Columbia Road, London E2

Anna Barnett
This pub has always been a favourite, and and even while the Sunday flower market has been cancelled, there still seems to be a bit of a buzz and hustle around the pub and the surrounding Columbia Road area. I’ve spent many a sunny afternoon in the garden, and when we are back there it will feel as if normality has resumed.

The Griffin, Fletching, East Sussex

James Lowe
I have always loved the Griffin. It has great views of the Sussex Weald, a very nice garden, good pub food and a “restaurant’’ menu if you choose to eat inside from May. Make sure you book in advance for the weekend; it is justifiably very popular.
