Housing and Regeneration Bill will merge English Partnerships and the Housing Corporation into a new agency to increase social and affordable housing. Major part of job will be to bring public sector land into use for house-building. Tenants will be given new rights and responsibilities.

Children in Care Bill will give youngsters more say in decisions over their future. Will stop children in care moving schools during GCSE years unless there are “exceptional circumstances”. Will beef up supervision of children in care.

Child Maintenance and Other Payments Bill will replace the Child Support Agency with Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission with greater powers over absent parents. It can confiscate passports and driving licences, dock money from wages, and “name and shame” defaulters.

Education and Skills Bill minimum age at which young people can leave full time education will be raised to 18.

The Health and Social Care Bill ministers want to create a single body, Ofcare, to regulate all health and social care services. Bill will also include the provision of a new one-off payment to expectant mothers to help with the birth of their baby.

Unclaimed Assets Bill cash in bank accounts that have been inactive for 15 years will be used in communities.

Climate Change Bill a new body, the Committee on Climate Change, will police legally-binding, five-year “carbon budgets”.

Energy Bill will make way for a new generation of nuclear power stations. It will also allow for more incentives for renewable energy generation and carbon capture technology.

Coroner Bill reforms to the Coroners’ Service to make it less traumatic for the bereaved and improve standards.

The Crossrail Bill will set the legal basis for the proposed east-west rail link through the capital.
