Tech firms chosen

Industry experts, venture capitalists and institutional investors from all over Europe will converge on Scotland next week for the first Scottish Tech Tour in five years.

The event brings together some of Scotland’s technology stars with about 50 potential investors. Companies that benefited from the last tour in 2001 include Optos, which recently floated on the stock market, and medical imaging company Voxar.

The first three companies pre-selected for the 2006 tour are Craneware, Elonics and Cascade.

The 450 candidate companies will eventually be reduced to just 30, with the final shortlist unveiled later this week.

The tour is a landmark event for Scotland’s emerging technology stars. It is organised by Swiss-based European Tech Tour, which runs three events each year and is now expanding to include emerging economies like India.
