This Anglo-German firm casts itself as being a bit hip, thanks to its focus on technology, media and communications as well as life sciences and healthcare — and for years it has sponsored the annual photography prize at the National Portrait Gallery in London to further its cool credentials.

Over the past year the firm has advised Ricoh on its agreement to acquire PFH Technology Group, in a deal that resulted in the company significantly increasing its presence in Ireland.

It has also advised ATL Technology on its acquisition of the manufacturing operations of Gyrus Medical from the Japanese conglomerate Olympus. In litigation the firm has acted for Abbott in relation to disputes over various medical devices, including a claim against Dexcom over a monitoring device for glucose.

In September the firm said that it would pay a proportion of lawyer bonuses in cryptocurrency.
