Taylor Swift is due in court today to testify against a DJ who she claims groped her.
The pop superstar says that David Mueller put his hand up her skirt while they were having their photograph taken at a publicity event in Denver in June 2013.
Swift, who was then 23, did not notify the police but complained to Mueller’s employer, a country music radio station, which despite his denials sacked him.
He consequently sued Swift, demanding $3 million in damages for loss of earnings. She countersued, claiming sexual assault, paving the way for the civil trial. She is asking to be awarded $1 million.
Swift said in a statement: “Right as the moment came for us to pose for the photo, he took his hand and put it up my dress and grabbed on to my ass cheek and no matter how much I scooted over it was still there.”

A photograph taken at the time shows them standing beside each other with his hand behind her.
The singer, now 27, has said that she wants the case to serve “as an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts”.
