Tate finds Gershon successor

KINGFISHER

Gerry Murphy will succeed Sir Peter Gershon as chairman at Tate & Lyle in April. Murphy, 61, serves as chairman of Blackstone’s European arm and Invest Europe, as well as a non-executive director at British American Tobacco and Intertrust. He was previously chief executive of Kingfisher, Carlton Communications and Greencore.

Sir David Higgins will become chairman of Gatwick airport in January. Higgins, 62, who succeeds Sir Roy McNulty, is chairman of High Speed Two. He was previously chief executive of the Olympic Delivery Authority and Network Rail.

Antony Jenkins has been appointed to the board of the digital currency start-up Blockchain. Jenkins, 55, who served as chief executive of Barclays until last year, recently launched 10x Future Technologies, a fintech start-up, and chairs Currencies Direct and Business in the Community. Before he led Barclays’ retail operations and Barclaycard, Jenkins worked for 16 years at Citigroup.

Jessica Uhl has been appointed chief financial officer at Royal Dutch Shell. Uhl, 48, who joined the company in 2004, serves as executive vice-president for finance in the integrated gas business, and has worked for Enron and Citibank.

Rakhi Goss-Custard has been appointed a non-executive director at Schroders. Goss-Custard, 42, is a non-executive director at Kingfisher, Rightmove, Intu Properties and Be Heard. She was previously a director of UK media at Amazon.

Ian Burke has been appointed chairman of online retailer Findel. Burke, 60, serves as chairman of the AIM-listed Rank Group. He was previously chief executive of Thistle Hotels and managing director at Holiday Inn Worldwide and Gala Clubs.

David Sear and John Straw have been appointed non-executive directors at the doorstep lender Provident Financial. Sear, 52, who is chief executive of AIM-listed Bango, was previously divisional managing director at Travelex. Straw, 57, was previously chairman of Thomas Cook’s digital advisory board.

Andrew Lewis has been appointed group finance director at the defence contractor Chemring. Lewis, 45, was previously group finance director of Avon Rubber.

Matthew Roberts has been appointed a non-executive director at the brewer and pub chain Marston’s. Roberts, 53, serves as chief financial officer of Intu Properties. He was previously chief financial officer at Gala Coral.
