Smaller stock to watch

Micap, the AIM-listed yeast encapsulation specialist, added 5p to 48p on granting BioProgress a six-month option to evaluate the application of its techniques to develop products for smoking cessation. BioProgress, up 2½p at 95p, has developed films that dissolve in the mouth as an alternative to gums, patches and other methods to deliver nicotine.

Directors’ dealings

Ultraframe, the Lancashire-based conservatory maker whose shares plunged 39 per cent last week after it issued the fourth profit warning of its financial year, recovered 3p to 70p as its company secretary bought stock for £86,000. Edward Smethurst, who joined four years ago as company solicitor, purchased 130,900 shares at 65¾p, and now holds 250,000.

Hilton shares put on 4p to 261¾p ahead of the hotels and gaming group’s half-year results on Thursday. Its Ladbrokes betting arm is expected to have gained from a strong sporting fixtures list, while the hotels are expected to have increased profits. Cantor Index offers a spread of 262.8p to 265.2p on where the shares will close on December 14.
