Take the rap

Sir, Neil Fraser is right to condemn the BBC’s promotion of music that encourages violence (letter, June 15). He is better qualified to do so than David Cameron.

Under his Mad Professor moniker he has made a mighty contribution to a “conscious” homegrown music scene, within the genres that Mr Cameron dislikes, which does not glorify violence but is based around values of peacefulness and respect for others. Mr Cameron’s comments tended to tar everybody involved in hip-hop with the same brush. We should listen instead to less opportunistic, saner voices such as that of Mr Fraser.
