Take a dose of celebrity

SICK people have had a dose of Janet Street-Porter. Health Service Journal (Sept 7) reports that along with two other celebrities, Gail Porter, the TV presenter, and the comedian Sean Hughes, Ms Street-Porter has undergone training as an auxiliary nurse for a TV series called So You Think You Can Nurse? She featured in a similar series on teaching and in Call Me a Cabbie, where she and Carol Thatcher, another reality-TV veteran, learnt how to drive London taxis.

The three “nurses” have spent two weeks filming at Barnsley Hospital Foundation Trust, where they got hands-on experience in a number of departments, says a hospital spokeswoman.

Desperation or inspiration? You can judge for yourself when the series is screened next year.
