Sir, Two headlines from today’s edition: “Judge not afraid to get tough with police” and “Householders told they must not go further than reasonable force”.

Re the first, it would be nice to hear about a judge who is not afraid to get tough with the villains from time to time; and re the second, will the thieves, muggers and burglars who frequently use violence and intimidation, especially against the sick and the elderly, please promise to be more gentle in future?
