Suspension means that Scott Moore is less for troubled Castleford

Castleford Tigers’ threadbare squad was reduced further last night when Scott Moore, the hooker, was banned for two matches by the Rugby Football League’s disciplinary tribunal.

The 20-year-old, who is on a season-long loan from St Helens, was found guilty of both a dangerous throw and reckless tackle on his Tigers debut in the 21-14 home defeat by Catalans Dragons in the opening game of the season on Saturday.

He received a one-match suspension for each offence and was fined £300, which means that he will miss Castleford’s next two away games, against Wigan on Friday and Huddersfield Giants on Sunday week.

Glenn Morrison, the Bradford Bulls back-row forward, was cleared to play against Huddersfield on Saturday after being found not guilty of choking an opponent during Bradford’s 26-24 defeat away to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

Stanley Gene, the Hull Kingston Rovers utility player, was found guilty of a reckless high tackle on Ade Gardner, the Great Britain winger, in Sunday’s 24-22 win over St Helens but the no further action will be taken.

Ali Lauitiiti, the Leeds Rhinos second-row forward, was found guilty of two offences but avoided any suspension. The tribunal decided to take no further action against the former New Zealand international for striking Luke Robinson, the Huddersfield scrum-half, but fined him £300 for a reckless high tackle on Eorl Crabtree, the prop, during the champions’ 33-10 win on Sunday.
