Gardaí investigating the discovery of a woman’s body in a Dublin woods are concerned a man they want to speak to has left the country.

The body was found in Coolmine Woods in Blanchardstown on Monday afternoon. Gardaí had been searching for Linda Christian, 29, who had been reported missing last month, when they made the discovery.

The woman’s body was found in an area of undergrowth between Clonsilla Road and Snugborough Road.

Gardaí renewed an appeal for her last weekend, saying her family were “very concerned for her welfare”. Detectives want to speak to a man from eastern Europe who knew the missing woman but who has left the country.

Officers have been in contact with police forces in other countries but a spokesman refused to specify which forces were assisting them with their inquiries. Ms Christian’s family have been informed of the discovery.

The badly decomposed remains were found in a wooded area close to housing estates and yards from Coolmine Community School. The area was searched after locals reported a foul smell.

Ms Christain was last seen leaving Connolly Hospital with a man she knew. Officers said they became concerned for the vulnerable woman after she was reported missing because she had not claimed her social welfare.

Gardaí said they were treating the discovery of the body as suspicious pending the results of a post mortem, but that detectives were investigating as though it were a murder.
