A food chain is launching a range of “ugly” seasonal fruit at discount prices for use in cooking.
The “class two” strawberries, tomatoes, plums and other fruit will be either visually flawed or oddly shaped, according to Waitrose.
They will be marketed for use in cookery and jam-making amid concerns over food waste, and will cost around 50p to £1 less per kilo than their perfect looking equivalents.
