Boeing managers allegedly treated illegal efforts to hire a US Air Force weapons buyer as “business as usual”, according to court papers made available yesterday. The claims could constitute a further ethical lapse in the aerospace company’s dealings with the Pentagon, its client.

Sergio Marchionne, Fiat’s chief executive, will replace Herbert Demel as the head of Fiat Auto. The firm added that all its divisions had performed better than expected in 2004 and confirmed that the group should reach break-even for last year.
