Nokia phone plan

Nokia, the Finnish mobile phone maker, unveiled plans to launch a dual-compatibility handset that will allow users to bypass traditional mobile networks to make calls over the internet. The phone connects to the internet via wireless Wi-Fi connections.

Oil price slips

Crude oil futures fell below $61 per barrel in New York for the first time since January 3, with ample US petroleum stocks. The March crude oil contract last night was trading down 89 cents at $60.95 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Italian fine lower

Telecom Italia, Italy’s dominant telecoms group, has been ordered to pay €115 million (£78.5 million) by the country’s highest administrative court for breaching competition rules. The fine was previously set at €152 million.
