Two rare carvings stolen from an English church 34 years ago are on their way back from the US after being spotted for sale on eBay.
The wooden lion and lamb were taken at night from St Nicholas’s Church in Denston, near Newmarket, Suffolk, which has medieval carvings at the end of each pew.
But last week they were put up for sale by a couple in Wadsworth, Ohio, who had bought them from an antique shop in Ipswich in 1972. They agreed to return them.
