Steve Bruce, the Hull City manager, has agreed a contract extension with the Barclays Premier League club which will be signed in the next 24 hours.
Despite a season in which Hull have struggled - they are 15th in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone - the 54-year-old will extend his stay at the club to a fourth season.
“We have achieved a lot in the few years we have been here but this is just the beginning of the journey,” Bruce said. “Premier League survival is now crucial for us at this time, as is improving our training facility as we look to continue to grow and become a solid, well-run Premier League club.”
The former Sunderland manager took over at the KC Stadium in the summer of 2012 and immediately got them promoted to the Premier League.
Last season Bruce took Hull to their first-ever FA Cup Final - a 3-2 defeat by Arsenal, despite being 2-0 up - and, as a consequence, made their maiden European appearance in the summer. It ended at the first hurdle in an away-goals defeat by Lokeren, of Belgium.
