Stereophonics’ adoption of a a celebrated wartime poster suggests that if they had been around in the Seventies, their sleeves would have featured female tennis players scratching their bottoms. Kelly Jones may say he’s too immersed in the music to ponder such trifles, and the quotidian rock of this seventh album bears him out. Innocent and the Glitter Band-like I Got Your Number confirm that they are better when they up the tempo, but while they take such pride in sounding so thuddingly generic, they remain hard to love.
