SQUARE dancing could be the answer to the nation’s obesity problem – or least a step in the right direction. GPs often recommend gyms that are out of patients’ price range, when they could suggest dancing, says Zoe Bremer, spokeswoman for the British Association of American Square Dancing, in Nursing Standard (Feb 6). “One of our folk dance clubs in Derby charges only £1 per session, including refreshments, but the local GPs refuse to send people there.” Fatty refreshments, perhaps?
