FA Cup fifth round, Burnley v Blackburn Rovers, BBC1, 1.30pm
Blackburn won’t be relishing the short journey to Turf Moor. Burnley knocked out Liverpool in the third round and manager Steve Cotterill has built a solid team that will not be intimidated by its Premiership opponents. Don’t be surprised to see Burnley in the hat for the sixth round

FA Cup fifth round, Newcastle v Chelsea, Sky Sports 1, 3.30pm, kick-off 4pm
This is the first of two make-or-break games for Newcastle this week (the second comes along on Thursday when they host Heerenveen in the second leg of their Uefa Cup tie). Graeme Souness was a busy boy during the January transfer window, but there has been no quick fix, and defeat against the runaway league leaders will increase the pressure on him. In truth, it’s difficult to see how Chelsea can lose this tie

TUESDAY
Champions League, Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen, ITV2, 7pm
What price Liverpool to reach the next round? Leverkusen’s away form has been abysmal, and they concede goals, too. Mind you, Rafael Benitez’s side doesn’t score too many. The Germans don’t possess a star-studded line-up, and Liverpool will fancy their chances of progressing

WEDNESDAY
Accenture Matchplay Championship, Sky Sports 3, 7pm
The first World Golf Championship event of the year brings together the world’s top 64 players (almost), with Tiger Woods going for a third successive title. Ernie Els gives it a miss, but all the other big names will be at Carlsbad, so why is this such a flat, disappointing event? Perhaps it’s because so many Joe How-Did-He-Get-In-the-Top-64s reach the latter stages

FRIDAY
WBU heavyweight title fight, Matt Skelton v Fabio Moli, Sky Sports 1, 10pm
Former kickboxing champion Matt Skelton challenges for the vacant WBU heavyweight crown (more of a tiara than a crown, actually). Born in Bradford, he has won all 15 of his professional fights and holds the British and Commonwealth titles, but world champion? Be serious

SATURDAY
Six Nations Championship, Scotland v Italy, BBC1, 2pm
Who would be Matt Williams? The Scotland coach saw his team lose unluckily to France before capitulating against Ireland, and is on a hiding to nothing against the equally hapless Italians. Defeat at Murrayfield will confirm Italy’s status as the whipping boys of the Six Nations; defeat for Scotland will confirm that they are, well, just plain awful

WEDNESDAY
Champions League, Barcelona v Chelsea, Sky Sports 2, 6pm
With apologies to Manchester United and AC Milan, this tie looks to be the pick of the round, and will provide Chelsea with the ultimate test of their credentials. Jose Mourinho’s side still has four competitions in its sights — apart from the Champions League, the Premiership is all but wrapped up, and Chelsea are in the final of Carling Cup and still in the FA Cup. While there is no denying that Mourinho has a world-class squad, Barca can boast the likes of Ronaldinho, Silvinho, Carles Puyol, Edmilson and Xavi, as well as a healthy lead at the top of La Liga
