Athletics: Paula Radcliffe, who was non-committal in September when she was named by England for both events, said yesterday that she would give the 10,000 metres priority at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in March and that she would defend her 5,000 metres title only if it fitted in with her training closer to the Flora London Marathon in April.

Hayley Tullett, of Wales, scored a third victory in four years when winning the New Balance Games indoor mile title in New York at the weekend. Tullett, troubled by a sciatic nerve for the past 18 months, won in 4min 29.23sec.

Loeb won five stages on Saturday, but Grönholm finished 1min 1sec ahead.
